Linda S. Remensnyder, Au.D., Doctor of Audiology, receives Professional Association's Presidential Award

President of Hearing Associates, P.C., (with offices in Libertyville and Gurnee) Linda S. Remensnyder, Au.D., Doctor of Audiology, was awarded the 2011 American Academy of Audiology Presidential Award "in grateful appreciation for her significant contributions to the American Academy of Audiology and the profession of Audiology." The award was presented on April 7 at the Opening Session of the Academy's National Convention with over 7,500 audiologists present.

Dr. Remensnyder was appointed to the AAA/HLAA Joint "Get in the Hearing Loop" Task Force in early 2010 and has been instrumental in looping large venues with poor acoustics in Lake, Cook, and McHenry Counties. AAA, the American Academy of Audiology, is the world's largest professional organization of, by, and for audiologists and HLAA, Hearing Loss Association of America, is the nation's leading organization representing those with hearing loss. Both groups are committed to providing access for people with hearing loss by encouraging the installation of hearing loops in all large venues that have poor acoustics.

A hearing loop is a copper wire that is placed around the periphery of the area to be looped that generates a magnetic induction field. The technology allows those members of the congregation/audience with hearing loss to link directly into the facility's sound system by accessing their hearing aid's telecoil.
